Our helicopter trip from Bushmills to visit the Galantas Gold Mine near Omagh
On the appointed day and time Angela and I went to the Bushmills Inn and were surprised and delighted to find our friend Gary was waiting there to see us off. So some of the following photos were taken by Gary.

The helicopter is based at Newtownards, about 80 miles from Bushmills. It had arrived via the Antrim Coast because of bad weather inland. On board was our friend and press photographer Bob Torrens. We have known each other from when Angela used to write for the Newtownards Chronicle and Bob had agreed to take the photos for us during the day. Once the machine had landed it was decided by the pilot that we would postpone the 60 mile trip to the gold mine at Cavanacaw near Omagh until the rain had moved from our route. (We were to go over the Sperrin mountains and the rain clouds were low over them). So we waited in the Bushmills Inn for an hour or so drinking coffee and eating scones until it was time to take off.
