THE GARDEN

2.5 ltr tin of paint for scale. Total width of this set is 23 feet.
Photo taken in workshop under natural light.
There are three flats in this scene. A left and right hand one, which are downstage, and an upstage one with the trellis and fir trees on. Between the two downstage ones is a foot high ground row. This hid the folded up beanstalk. The dark trees are there to hide the twine which pulled up the beanstalk.

The flats are made from four feet wide sheets of hardboard so I used the rope of the swing to hide the join in the left flat; the Trellis to hide the back join, and a sunflower stalk to hide the right hand join. In order to give a more natural edge to the two main trees, the bulk of both trunks are on separate sheets of board nailed to the flats so they could have irregular edges.
