WORKHOUSE PARLOUR | |
The truck has now been swiveled around. Fagin's flats folded up and the parlour flats unfolded. Two centre pillars are there to hide the hinges. Everything is painted on except the wooden fire surround. (Paint tin for scale) Other cultures won't know about our ducks. A set of three of these were commonplace wall ornaments years ago. Inevitably one got broken or would hang wrongly. I wanted one missing to add a little humour to the scene. but which one to leave out was a dilemma. Discuss! This was a distressed scene with dirt in the corners done by smearing with a sponge dipped in dark paint. The "tiles" around the fire were also darkened to hint at smoke stains. No fire in the grate. for two reasons. Painted fires never look real and also would the "widow" have afforded a fire? There's still a skirt of boards to go around the bottom of the truck to hide the gap. This will be done in the theatre. |
