THE CHILDRENS' WARDS OBS

The childrens' wards were above the studio, so it was a simple matter of running a cable through our window to them and then using the SOOBE for broadcasts. At the commencement of these broadcasts we were hampered in that there were no loudspeakers in those wards or headphones. So we would install a temporary Loudspeaker. Later we installed permanent speakers.

The programmes from the children's wards were invariably hosted by a husband wife team - Robin and Pat B. who were Gateway Club leaders. Both very sympathetic to children. These broadcasts (piped to the other adult patients too of course) were very much enjoyed by all concerned.
