SCENERY PAINTING FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME
WIZARD OF OZ Macosquin page four.
Designed, constructed and painted by Brian Willis
Performed by pupils of Macosquin Primary School, Northern Ireland, June 2005
EMERALD CITY Photo taken under stage lights.
At one time I considered piercing the diamond paned window wing on the left and putting gel behind with a light but decided against it as it would have put too much emphasis on that area of the scene and also we were storing scenery behind that wing.
Below is a better photo of the backcloth. Taken under stage lights.

I got my shadows of the two chains at the castle wrong . I wanted the road to look jewel-like so put in the slabs and reflections. But I'm not sure if this effect worked, or if it just looks as if there had been a heavy shower of rain which has left the street awash with puddles.

It is rare for me to paint a single point perspective picture but here's one. The Vanishing Point is half way up the staircase in the background. (In reality three feet from the bottom of the canvas)
