THE CAVE

Backcloth 20 feet by eleven feet. There is a foot missing from each side of this photo as I could not get back far enough.

The characters come in from audience right so I decided that is where I would put my light source. Isn't it strange how we all accept light in a pitch black cave? Light is a great maker of shadows which helped me show the "roundness" of the stalactites. It also allowed me to show depth by having some of the elements cast their shadows on other parts.

The blue of the little streams make a nice colour contrast.

A cave wing goes either side of this cloth. Painted at the same time to ensure the style and colours match.
