And now here I am tackling the laborious task of transferring my drawing from the sketch to the canvas using the squares for reference. You might be able to see I am wearing headphones. I listen to music as it's a very intensive process.
Just like in the original grided outline sketch I do this transferring freehand and deliberately make the lines wiggly to differentiate from the grid lines. Hard to see (between the ladders) but I have numbered each step to help in the transferring.

By the way on top of that little table is a piece of board with an edge of wood. This is my 'pallet' and on this I put my plastic trays in which I have the various colours, my water, a rag and the brushes. Behind the camera are 41 tins of various colours of emulsion paint. Not all full of course.

Yes I know what you are thinking. How does he get to the top squares? I have hired a scaffold tower on castors and you'll probably see me using that in a later photograph.
