SCENERY PAINTING FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME

CINDERELLA 2010 - page one
Designed, built and painted by Brian Willis

Performed by Hullabaloo Children's Interactive Theatre, Ballyearl Courtyard Theatre 2010

The Company perform with children from the audience, dancers and puppets. In this particular Show they told three Fairy Stories, one of which was Cinderella. So wanted a Coach and a Clock for this section. However the Clock had to marry in with the Castle and Cottage pieces I had already built for them, so it was decided that, instead of the usual Ballroom Clock, they would have a Village Square Clock with folk art decoration to chime (pun intended) with the folk art on the cottage. .

THE VILLAGE SQUARE CLOCK

Above photo taken in workshop. 11 ft high in total. 5 Ltr paint tin for scale. A three sided structure. Minute hand moved from behind. Window in side has small section made of muslin so "Operator" could see the action on the stage.

Little dancer Christa stands beside the Clock for scale.
THE COACH
Members of the Marie Ives Ballet School of Dancing pose beside my Cinderella Coach.
From Left:- Natasha, Charlotte (Kneeling) Christa (in Coach) and Lisa.
The girls are dressed in costumes to represent the various stories in the Programme.
There are LED Fairy Lights around the edges of the heart shaped arches. The Coach breaks down into 12 different sections for transport in the Hullabaloo Company's van. All held together with 36 bolts. (The Coach not their van!) The device is mounted on six castors.
