SCENERY PAINTING FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME
JACK AND BEANSTALK COLERAINE Page four.

Designed and painted by Brian Willis.
Constructed by Sean Magee and Hamish Grant
Performed by Coleraine Provincial Players Jan 2012

BAKERY INTERIOR.

Cloth 18 feet by eleven feet. Photo taken in workshop under natural light.
Northern Ireland (Where this Panto was produced) is renowned for its variety of cakes and bread, many having their own traditional names. I tried to include some of these names in this painting.

Best parts? The reflection, light and shadow on the green bottle, top left.
Shadow of the broom also works well to describe the various textures on which it is cast.
I enjoyed putting in the shaft of light and (Teresa note!) the reflected light on the ceiling.

Worst part? The eyeline/horizon line is one foot above the floor, but unfortunately I made a mistake with the bottom hoop of the barrel on the right. That should have curved up instead of down, as it is below the HL.
