SCENERY PAINTING
FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME |
SHOW BOAT -page three. This will take a time to download. Big graphic files. Sorry about that. |
Designer - Donald O'Brien. Scenic Artist - Brian Willis. Sets constructed by Leonard Quigg. Performed by Ballycastle Choral Society (1999) |
This is the downstage part of the boat. (Photographed in the workshop. About three feet behind this was a row of flats depicting the doors and portholes of the cabins. The paddle wheel I painted trompe l'oeil on a flat piece of board. Well actually three flat pieces of board and you can just see the joins in this photo, |
Construction of the Cotton Blossom. And this is how the flats went together. You'll see this drawing shows a ceiling but that was dropped as the lighting people could not get enough light on the actors who were standing in the "deck" . All the flats were labelled CB as they were part of the Cotton Blossom but I expect you guessed that! |
