"GOING ON BOARD" Page two

BACKCLOTH (This backcloth will also be used for the "On Board" scene)

GROUND ROWS Will sit either side of the stage to look like the side of the ship

HERES THE PROPOSED SET
Re the above set. Note the two sides to the gangway have now disappeared. Instead the "Ship Sides" ground rows will be held up with supports in the front, hidden by the "Tea/Barrel" piece and the "Chest" piece. I have also removed the bollard painted on the right hand "Ship's Side" as things were getting too 'busy'.
Sean suggests the ramp to have ropes so that it can easily be lifted off by "sailors" before the dancers perform their hornpipe.
LAYOUT (Not to scale)

UPDATE 14TH AUGUST..... This scene OK'd by the Producer
Below are photos of the completed left and right hand ground rows of the Ship Sides with the supporting chest and tea chest/barrel hinged to them. There is not enough room in the workshop to lay these out as per the above layout so I have had to photograph them separately. (Hence the same mast in both pics) A ramp goes between these two pieces. The horizon line for these ground rows is one foot above the floor whereas the horizon line for the backcloth is three feet above the floor. Not that it notices much as most of the decking is hidden.
