SCENERY PAINTING FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK (Hullabaloo) page three
Sets Designed, built and painted by Brian Willis
Performed by the Mr. Hullabaloo Children's Theatre,
at the Courtyard Theatre, Ballyearl. Northern Ireland. December 2010

THE VILLAGE

The Dame; the Cow (Noleen Esler); and Jack stand in front of the Village flats. The various shutters and doors open to allow puppets to appear. They also appear above the back wall.
The backcloth is part of the Company's stock scenery. Here are details of how it was made.

A gauze now covers the village flats and cloth. The gauze was to hide the wires attached to the Beanstalk in the foreground. This photo was taken during a Dress Rehearsal. Creases and wrinkles were "ironed out" for the Performances.

Jack is pictured in conversation with the Fairy (Wendy Paver) who, in this shot, is playing her magic flute.
